Since 1996, Deirdre has delivered counselling services to agencies who want to take care of the mental health needs of their staff and management. As outlined by the Employee Assistance Professional Association (EAPA) Standards and Professional Guidelines (2003) an EAP is a programme designed to assist:
- work organisations in addressing productivity issues, and
- “employee clients” in identifying and resolving personal concerns, including, but not limited to, health, marital, family, financial, alcohol, drug, legal, emotional, stress, or other personal issues that may affect job performance.
- The Employee Assistance Programme offers solution-focused counselling on a wide range of issues:
Companies will offer their employees between 4 to 8 sessions with a counsellor to help them with issues like these. Often these short term “packages” of therapy provide enormous relief.
